The independent student newspaper of the University of Glasgow
Editorial: Our mission
Throughout the previous few years, the lives of students and young people have been burdened by uncertainties and hurdles. From the COVID-19 pandemic forcing us inside for two years and forever altering our education, to the subsequent cost of living crisis. Strikes in schools and universities further affected our education, and the recent rises in home and energy prices are making the prospect of raising a family and owning a home increasingly unattainable.
It is with an understanding of this burden that we have made the decision to establish a new student-run paper at the University of Glasgow: Hillhead Review to report on any and all issues affecting University of Glasgow students. We believe that once a story arises it is our duty to report on it as best we can and that is why we are driven to provide uncompromising and accurate reporting to the student body. Where other publications may hesitate, we pledge to maintain a student focus, hold the University to account, and, most importantly, remain explicitly impartial in our news coverage.
As Editors-in-Chief, as well as providing regular news reporting, we also aim to showcase opinion and culture writing by members of our talented student body.
If this message resonates with you and you would like to get involved, then please get in touch via editors@hillheadreview.co.uk where we are open to pitches or keep an eye on our instagram and X/Twitter where we'll be posting pitches in the coming months.
